Two South Bend Common Council members request relief from Gov. Braun as gas prices soar 

Democratic Council Members Oliver Davis and Sherry Bolden-Simpson sent a letter to Braun on Monday, urging him to temporarily suspend the state's gas tax.

The letter says in part:

Indiana drivers are facing rising costs at the pump, with the state gasoline excise tax holding at 36 cents a gallon . . . While we understand the importance of funding our state's infrastructure, the current economic pressure on Hoosier households requires immediate relief.
